Am I eligible to train for a Professional Award?
There are no formal entry requirements for the Certificate level.
However a suitable applicant would be at least 17 years of age, have
gained a good secondary education and have a good command of written and
spoken English. It is desirable that the applicant be proficient in
mathematics and capable of applying a logical approach to the solution
of practical problems.
What Vocational Awards are offered?
These vary from centre to centre, as they are subject to local
demand. A wide range of courses are available such as dBASE, Lotus
1-2-3, Word Processing, Desk-top Publishing, MS-DOS and High Level
Languages.
Am I eligible to train for a Vocational Qualification?
There are no specific entry requirements. All courses are of short
duration and candidates who are proficient in written and spoken English
may be accepted. However, it is desirable that applicants for Word
Processing and/or Desktop Publishing courses possess typing skills.How
do I apply for Student Membership if I study for a Professional Award?
Applicants, who have enrolled for a course of study at an ICCP approved
training centre, will have their membership processed by the centre.
What is an exemption?
If you already have a formal, recognised computing qualification, or
have relevant experience working in the computer industry, ICCP may
consider this as an alternative to you sitting for one or more of its
examinations. If you believe that you have appropriate qualifications or
experience, you should discuss this with your course tutor who will
advise you of how to apply for exemption. Details of the standard
exemptions offered by ICCP are available from your centre's Examinations
Secretary, ICCP or by visiting our website.
What does it cost to study for an ICCP Professional Award?
Training fees will vary from college to college, and from country to
country. It is advisable to make enquiries direct with the training
centre of your choice.
Does the Association sponsor students?
There is no provision for giving financial assistance to students at
present.
What are my future prospects?
IT and the use of computers have expanded all over the world on an
unprecedented scale. There is an immediate demand for qualified and
skilled professionals at all levels. Obviously, you will need to gain
some experience before you can apply for senior appointments, but your
ICCP qualification will give a prospective employer the assurance that
you have received thorough training and need only to adapt your
knowledge and skills to the specific requirements of his/her business.
